1) 'Some Reflections on the Van Hiele theory' video clip and paper
These six video clips are of an invited paper presented at the Program Post-Graduate Studies in Mathematics Education at the Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paulo, Brazil in April 2010, as well as being repeated as an invited plenary at the Croatian Mathematical Conference in Zagreb, Croatia in June 2010, as well as at the National Mathematics Congress in Namibia, Swakopmund, 21-23 May 2012.
Please note that though all the writing on the screen is not clearly visible at the start, the camera zooms in better as the video progresses. Hope mathematics teachers, student teachers, educators and researchers find the video useful.
"Obrigado!" (thanks) to Celina Abar, Mathematics Education, Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paulo, for arranging the filming and production of this video!

The presented paper (584 kb) in PDF can be downloaded from 'Some Reflections on the Van Hiele theory' paper
The paper (2010) is also available in Portuguese at 'Algumas reflexoes sobre a Teoria de Van Hiele' paper
The paper is also available in Croatian (1.8 MB) at 'Neka razmisljanja o van Hieleovoj teorij' paper Reference as: De Villiers, M. (2010). Neka razmisljanja o van Hieleovoj teorij. Mladinic, P. & Svedrec, R. (Eds). Zbornik Radova: Kongres Matematika, Zagreb, 30 June - 2 July 2010, Hrvatsko Matematicko Drustvo, pp. 559-588.
If you prefer to download & watch/play the video offline, you can download it in zipped format (102 MB) from Zipped Van Hiele Video and play by opening the html files in the 6 folders after unzipping.
2) 'Revisiting the Van Hiele theory' video clip and paper
In November 2017, I was also invited to give a Plenary on "Revisiting the Van Hiele theory" at the University of Lisbon, Portugal at the EIEM Conference, organized by the Portuguese Society for Research in Mathematics Education. As will be noted there is considerable overlap with my "Some Reflections" talk above, but it does include some different aspects too. Any way, below is a video recording of my talk. Hope some will find it useful.
"Obrigado!" (thanks) to Hélia Oliveira, Leonor Santos, Ana Henriques, Ana Paula Canavarro, João Pedro da Ponte, for the invitation as well as the filming and production of this video!
My EIEM 2017 plenary paper can be downloaded at Revisiting the Van Hiele theory.
